About Vaniqa
Based on Eflornithine hydrochloride, Vaniga is a topical drug which acts as an enzyme inhibitor retarding facial hair growth in female.
Uses or Indications
The medication is prescribed to retard undesirable facial hair growth and addresses Hirsutism - a medical term standing for excessive hair growth. Hirsutism results from various factors, like ovarian tumors, acromegaly, overproduction of the androgen (male hormone), using cortisone or sex gormones, as well as medications which affect the pituitary gland.
The modern medicine offers two ways to deal with excessive hair growth, that is physical removal and drug therapy. Vaniqa is the only medication for hair drug therapy. It comes in cream and needs 4-8 weeks to have an effect on the hair growth. Usually the drug is supported with a leaflet instruction which should be read carefully before using Vaniga.
How to Use Vaniqa
Apply a thin layer of Vaniga to the affected zones on your neck and face. Make sure you left at least 5 minutes between the hair removal procedure (like waxing, shaving or plucking) and the application of Vaniga. Massage your skin, wait at least 4 hours, and then wash the cream off. Only after that you can apply sunscreen and cosmetics. You shouldn`t use Vaniga too often - allow at least 8 hours between two applications of the cream.
Possible Side Effects
Using Vaniga implies such Side Effects as redness and burning, stinging and tingling feeling on the skin, as well as folliculitis (hair bumps). In case these symptoms develop to a certain level of intensity, look for immediate medical attention. If you experience swelling of the facial muscles or bleeding skin, you should inform your doctor immediately.
Drug Interaction
Check with your pharmacist or doctor before taking any other drug, including vitamins, herbal products and over-the-counter medications.
Missed Dose
If you forget or miss a dose of Vaniqa do not try to make it up by taking addition dose the next time. You just have to skip the missed dosage and resume your Vaniga application schedule as soon as it is possible.
Overdose
A Vaniqa overdose is not likely to occur. If the cream has been ingested, or if you suspect an overdose has occurred, seek medical assistance at once.
Storage
Store Vaniga at normal room temperature, even if extremes of 15° C-30° C (59° F-86° F) will not be any problem for the drug. Do not freeze Vaniga.
