About Renova

Renova, which comes under the generic name of Tretinoin, is a topical drug in the form of emollient cream. This medication is meant to restore the youthful look of the skin.

Uses or Indications

Containing Tretinoin - an active ingredient which treats acne, Renova helps the skin to recapture its beauty. The medication reduces discoloration of facial skin, roughness and fine wrinkles.

How to Use Renova

Renova should be used once a day, with the help of the fingertip, a gauze pad or a cotton swab. Apply the cream on the affected areas of the skin, avoiding open wounds, ears, eyes, nostrils and mouth zones. Before applying Renova, clean the skin with a mild soap, dry it and wait around 20-30 minutes. Don`t use Renova if you are are going to sunbathe or if your skin is sun-burnt already.

Basically it takes weeks for Renova to improve the skin, so even if you can`t see immediate result, keep on applying the medication. Don`t increase the dosage, as it will result in skin irritation.

Possible Side Effects

If you have sensitive skin, using Renova may lead to redness and make your skin crusted or blistered. If you noticed such a side effect, see your skin specialist at once.

Keep in mind that repeat application of this medication may provoke stinging and burning sensation on the skin, drying of the skin, reddening and unusual skin darkening.

Drug Precautions

  • Long-term usage (48 weeks of daily use and more) of Renova for purposes other than ache treatment isn`t recommended.
  • The is no guarantee Renova will be effective for people with dark skin pigmentation, below 18 and over 50 years old and with sun-damaged skin.
  • If you have chronic skin disorders like eczema, you should use the cream with caution
  • Keep in mind that Renova isn`t good for the treatment of sun-damaged skin or for eliminating wrinkles. After applying Renova use a sunscreen.
  • It isn`t recommended to use Renova if you are pregnant.
  • Avoid Renova if you are breastfeeding.

Drug Interaction

Check with your doctor before combining Renova with drugs that contain benzoyl peroxide or sulfur, as well as with resorcinol and salicylic acid.

Don`t use Renova in case you take medications promoting high sensitivity to sunlight (thiazide drugs such as hydrochlorothiazide, major tranquilizers and antibiotics like ciprofloxacin and tetracycline).

Be careful while combining Renova with abrasive soaps, cosmetics with drying effect and other topical drugs.

Missed Dose

If you occasionally missed a dose of Renova, resume your regular schedule the next day.

Overdose

Applying Renova excessively will not produce faster or better results. Some redness, peeling, or discomfort may occur.

Storage

Store Renova at ordinary room temperature. Do not freeze it.
