How to Take Drug?

Drug Precautions

If you take Norvasc, the doctor must be informed in case of a liver disease. There is yet another disease of the blood which is called the syndrome of sick sinus, aortic sinosis, low blood pressure, heart failure and a disease of the coronary artery. If you have any of the diseases mentioned above, you would not be able to take Norvasc or you may require a special monitoring or an adjustment of the doses which your doctor will decide. Norvasc is not known to be harmful to the unborn baby but this medicine should only be taken by the advice of a medical practitioner if you are pregnant or if you are in any chance of getting pregnant.

Side Effects

This drug can bring in side effects and if you experience chest pain, allergic reaction like difficulty in breathing, obstruction in the throat, lips, tongue and face swelling, slow or very fast heartbeat, fainting or dizziness, swelling of legs, jaundice, psychoses and so on. If you experience any of the above mentioned reactions be sure to inform the doctor and treat this as an emergency.
Less serious effects like headache, abnormal dreams, flushing, insomnia, nausea, constipation, diarrhea, tiredness or fatigue can be dealt with and the medicine can be continued in case these minor side effects occur.

Missed Dose

For this medication you cannot take a double dose. You need not take a mixed dose when the next dose is almost nearing. But if there is time yet for the next dose, the mixed dose can be taken, as soon as you remember. It is best to take the next dose by skipping the mixed dose.

Overdose

If you have other disease like sick sinus, heart failure, low blood pressure, heart failure, coronary heart disease, you must inform the doctor if he wants you to start on this medicine. If you are over 65 years old, you would probably feel the side effects of Norvasc. Your doctor would prescribe a lower dose of the same medicine for you.
