About Mircette

Mircette: An effective Birth Control Measure. There are many ways to prevent conception after a sexual intercourse nowadays and most of them are proven and effective methods. Mircette is a drug that is tested and shows effective results on use. Mircette is used as a medicine for the prevention of pregnancy and is taken as an oral contraceptive. This is an effective method used for contraception.

How to Take Drug?

Oral contraception should be taken continuously and meticulously with the advice of a doctor. This drug should not be stopped unless advised by the doctor. This medicine can be taken for 21 days or for a period of 28 days. There are two packs of medicines available at the stores. One with the 21 days pack and the other with the 28 days label. When you take the 21 days pack, take one medicine once a day after meals. And then wait for 7 days without taking any tablet. If you are taking the 28 days pack, then take a tablet each day for 28 days and then again start on a new pack. These medicines do not contain desogestrel or ethinyl estradiol. They actually contain (ferrous fumarate) which is iron and a daily dose of this taken helps a closure each day for 28 days. So when the 28 days medicines are exhausted, start with a new pack and continue. Another measure of contraception should be taken alongside for the first seven days till this medicine sets into your system. You have to ask your medical practitioner`s help in deciding when you should start on this medicine, on the first or the fifth day of your periods or on the first Sunday after the bleeding begins. Under no condition should you increase the dosage.

Drug Precautions

There are certain precautions to be kept in mind in case of birth control pills. These hormones may have serious defects in birth for an unborn baby. You should not go for birth control pills if you are pregnant or if you assume you can be pregnant. Birth control pills are a strict No-No for a lactating mother.
You should be tremendously careful in taking birth control pills if you are suffering from any of the following disease, namely: heart disease, cancer, liver disease, with a history of jaundice, hormone related cancer, asthma, bleeding, epilepsy, migraines and for one who has suffered a stroke.

Drug Interactions

This drug may have interactions with other hormones or drugs and it is best to be advised by doctor and get checked for other disease as well before the starting of this drug.

Side Effects

If you face certain side effects after using this birth control pill, immediately consult the doctor and stop taking the medicine. There could be allergic reaction like breathing problem, swelling and obstruction in throat, swelling of lips, face, tongue, Blood clots, blood pressure associated with flushing, blurred vision and severe headache. There could be nausea, diarrhea, vomiting, dizziness, tenderness in the breasts. There could be depression, changes in sexual urgency, fatigue and so on. You can talk to your doctor safely about the side effects and he will give you prompt advice to help you out.

Missed Dose

You cannot afford to take mixed doses in case of Birth Control Pills. You can take the 21 days pack or the 28 days pack. The 21 days pack has a respite of 7 days when you do not take the medicines and for the 28 days pack there is no respite and the pack as to continue when one ends. Only after 21 days, the last 7 days medicines come in a different color. About the starting of the medicine, your doctor would be able to advise you the best way.

Overdose

Ill effects from overdose have not yet been reported for this drug. Over dosage causes nausea and withdrawal may cause bleeding.

Storage

The storage of the medicine is a normal place away from heat and sunlight.
