About Eurax
Eurax is a non-prescriptive medicine that is destructive to scabies mites and is proven to relieve or prevent itching. Its generic name is Crotamiton USP, and Eurax includes 10% of this synthetic agent. Eurax is available as a cream or lotion meant exclusively for topical use.
It should be mentioned that the mechanisms of this drug`s action as well as the degree of its absorption into the skin are yet to be determined.
Uses or Indications
Eurax is normally used to eradicate scabies and to relieve and treat irritated/itching skin.
How to take Eurax
The lotion should be shaken thoroughly before using. Apply a small amount of the cream or lotion from the neck down. Rub into the skin gently all over the applied areas and leave on for 24 hours. Then apply a second dose of Eurax without washing. The dried substance should only be washed off 48 hours later your last application.
Side Effects
If applied properly Eurax is not known to cause serious medical side effects. Consult your doctor immediately should you experience any allergic reactions including throat/tongue/face swelling, shortness of breath, hives, etc.
Drug Precautions
- Do not exceed the dosage of Eurax and follow the schedule of its use.
- Avoid applying the drug topically to patients who are known to have hypersensitivity or allergy to topical medications. In case bad irritation or another undesired reaction develops, Eurax should be discontinued. Eurax should not be applied to skin areas that are acutely inflamed.
- Do not apply Eurax to the eyes, nose, or mouth. Immediately rinse with water should any amount of medication reach any of the above listed areas.
Drug Interactions
It is recommended that you ask your doctor and/or pharmacist before using any other medicine, including non-prescriptive drugs, vitamins, food supplements and herbal products.
Missed Dose
The two doses of Eurax medication are recommended 24 hours apart. If you miss the second dose, consult your doctor for a possible re-treatment.
Overdose
Overdose symptoms may include burning sensations/inflammation in the mouth and/or throat, stomach disorders, nausea and vomiting. Apply for medical attention as soon as possible if you suspect Eurax might have been overdosed.
Storage
Store Eurax at room temperature keeping it in a tightly closed container. Eurax should also be kept away from heat and moisture.
