About Condylox
Condylox is a topical medicine which is used as treatment for genital warts. Although the exact way in which the medication achieves potency is currently unknown, it treats genital warts quickly and efficiently.
Uses or Indications
Condylox is primarily used as treatment for genital warts, particularly those located on the external surface of the skin on the penis or vagina. The medication may also be used in treating warts, on the surface skin located between the genital area and the rectum.
How to Use Condylox
Condylox is available in 0.5% concentrated topical solution and topical gel. Applications of the medication should be done with close observation of the prescription of a physician, and only on the specific areas identified for treatment. Normal use of Condylox is twice a day, for three consecutive days, and followed by four days without any treatment. The physician may prescribe three to four weeks of such a treatment. Apply the drug on the affected areas only, and with the use of an applicator or a cotton bud. Avoid getting the medication on healthy skin.
Possible Side Effects
If the following adverse reactions are experienced, discontinue use and seek medical help: swelling of the treatment area, intense pain, burning and stinging on the affected area, or the presence of an allergic reaction such as rashes or hives. Common effects from use include pain during intercourse, moderate itching, swelling, burning, or pain on the affected area, and an unpleasant odor. In such incidences, maintain the applications and consult with a doctor.
Drug Precautions
Condylox is a medication intended for external use only; do not ingest the drug. Avoid applications on the inside of genital orifices, such as the rectum, the inner layers of the vagina, and the area inside the tip of the penis. Treatment of lesions should be done as prescribed by a physician. Avoid prolonged contact of the medication on healthy skin, and only treat areas which are specified by a doctor. Avoid sexual contact if applications are made on the affected area. Mild discomfort is a normal effect of treatment, so do not wash the drug off of the area unless intense pain or burning is experienced.
Drug Interaction
Avoid using any other topical medications or products with Condylox on the same general area of treatment, unless it is prescribed or instructed by a physician. Other skin products and medications may interact or have an effect on the potency of treatments of Condylox if applied simultaneously with it. There are also other drugs which may interact with Condylox, so inform a physician beforehand of any prescription and medications which are obtained over-the-counter before using Condylox as treatment.
Missed Dose
Make up for the missed application as soon as it is remembered; however, this must be done if the next application is not near enough as to cause a double dose. Avoid making up for a missed application with excessive and frequent doses.
Overdose
Excessive or prolonged applications of Condylox may result in unconsciousness, vomiting, confusion, nausea, numbness or tingling sensations, fever, diarrhea, and seizures, among others.
Storage
Store Condylox within normal room temperatures, away from moisture.
