Claritin-D: Relief from allergy without side-effects
Clartin-D is basically an anti-allergic drug. It belongs to antihistamine class of drug and is very effective in providing relief to the patients with symptoms of having high fever along with allergic reactions.
Drug Uses
This drug is used for the treatment of different allergic reactions that a patient devolves along with very high fever. It has a unique capability of blocking histamine which is the chief substance responsible for causing different allergic reactions in our body.
How to take drug
Take (12-hours) Claritin-D tablet twice a day with an interval of twelve hours. (24- Hour) Claritin tablets can be administered once in a day with a full glass of water.
Drug Precautions
Before prescribing this drug to the patients, the doctors should ensure that patients are not facing any lung disease or having asthma. They should also check for numerous diseases that include diabetes, high pressure, thyroid problems, glaucoma, enlarged of prostate gland, along with narrowing of gastrointestinal tracts, liver or kidney problem, heart disease, high blood pressure and irregularity in heart beats. If the patient is diagnosed with any of these problems, then he or she may not be administered Claritin -D or its dosage should be varied. It is placed in category B by the FDA for pregnancy. The drug has not yet been approved for children, who are below the age of 12 years.
Drug Interactions
One of the interactions of Claritin-D drug is that it gets mixed into the Breast milk and in turn it may have an effect on the nursing baby. Henceforth do not take Claritin-D, if you are Breast feeding your baby.
Side Effects
There are no serious side-effects of Claritin-D. Still, it might not suit few patients and they may develop difficulty in breathing, swelling in any internal or external part of the body, irregularity in heart beats along with the development of rashes in their body.
Missed Dose
Always try to continue taking the drug as soon as you remember of missing any of the doses and try to maintain the schedule from next time.
Overdose
If someone takes an overdose of Claritin-D, then consult your doctor immediately. The symptoms that you may develop after taking overdose of the drug includes vomiting, weakness, thrust, restlessness, drowsiness and excessive sweating.
Storage
The ideal condition for storage of Claritin-D is to keep it at any dry place at a temperature of 15-25 degrees centigrade.
