Drug Uses

How to Take Drug
The suggested dosage of Allegra-D is one tablet, twice a day, for adults and children with decreased renal function. It is recommended that the direction of taking Allegra-D with food must be followed.
Drug Precautions
Do not use Allegra D, if you have used an MAO inhibitor such as isocarboxazid, phenelzine, rasagiline, selegiline, or tranylcypromine within the last 2 weeks.
Before taking Allegra D, consult your doctor if you are allergic to fexofenadine, or pseudoephedrine, or if you have:
- kidney disease;
- diabetes;
- glaucoma;
- heart disease or high blood pressure;
- diabetes;
- a thyroid disorder;
- an enlarged prostate; or
- Problems with urination.
You may not be able to use Allegra D, or you may need a dosage adjustment or special tests during treatment, if you have any of the above-mentioned diseases.
It falls in FDA pregnancy, category C. So, it may be unsafe for an unborn baby. Allegra D can pass into breast milk and may harm a nursing baby. Do not use it without discussing your physician, if you are breast-feeding a baby.
Side Effects
The possible side effects of using Allegra D can be hives, difficult breathing, and swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat. You should immediately stop using this medication and consult your doctor at once, if you have any of these serious side effects:
- uneven heartbeat;
- hallucinations, unusual thoughts or behavior;
- severe dizziness, anxiety;
- increased blood pressure;
- easy bruising or bleeding, unusual weakness, flu symptoms;
- Urinating less than usual or not at all.
Missed Dose
If you miss a dose, use it as soon as it comes to your mind. If it is near the time of the next dose, skip the missed dose and continue your usual dosing schedule.
Overdose
As a result of overdose, it may cause giddiness, nausea, vomiting, sweating, difficulty in micturition, and insomnia. It may develop cardiac arrhythmias, circulatory collapse, and respiration failure.
Storage
Allegra D must be stored in a room temperature between 68 and 77 degrees F (20-25 degrees C) and must be kept away from sunlight and moisture.
